Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said people in Bangladesh can now get land services from home by calling 16122 or visiting the land.gov.bd website.
In her congratulatory message on the occasion of Land Service Week 2022, Prime Minister Hasina said, “We have taken initiatives to ensure that the people of Bangladesh can receive land services from their homes by calling 16122 or visiting the land.gov.bd website”.
A recorded congratulatory message given by Prime Minister Sheikh on the occasion of Land Service Week was broadcast during the inaugural Land Service Week 2022 event on Thursday.
Lands Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury was present as the main guest of the event. Md. Maqbool Hossain, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Lands, was present on the occasion as a special guest. Land Secretary Md. Mostafizur Rahman PAA chaired the event.
Members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Lands Manoranjan Shil Gopal and Md. Habibar Rahman were present as guests of honour.
In his congratulatory message, the Prime Minister further said, “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the best Bengali nation ever, has always worked to secure the land rights of the people. He waived property taxes up to 25 bighas”.
“The socio-economic development of the people of Bangladesh was his sole objective. The Awami League government has built a digital Bangladesh and taken initiatives to digitize land management. You can take advantage of both of these platforms to get terrestrial services. Our commitment is to establish effective, transparent and user-friendly land services,” she said.
Lands Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said in his speech that the three laws proposed by the Lands Ministry were passed in cabinet on Thursday.
With everyone’s cooperation, the Ministry of Lands has come to a stage today and won the trust of the people.
He added that the Ministry of Lands has started monitoring the performance of land officials, creating an environment conducive to internal competition.
The chairman of the permanent parliamentary committee also expressed his point of view to facilitate the transfer process. He said many poor people have become destitute due to land disputes. The complexity of the case must therefore be reduced.
The lands secretary said in his speech that 51.3 million (5 crore 13 lakh) rights records have been uploaded online. He added that work has been initiated to digitize the land acquisition process.
Under the theme ‘Receiving land service without going to the land office Land service week 2022 will be held from May 19 to May 23, 2022, in 8 divisions, 64 districts and 507 upazilas, tax circles, unions and municipal land offices.
